Future-proof yourself by building your Personal Brand

Given in the next 25 years, 10 Million jobs will be replaced by machines and robots, the only way to 'future-proof' ourselves is by honing in what makes us human and then more specifically, what makes us US.

To create a career you love, you need to do something you genuinely enjoy and you are good at. So before looking what's out there, start your inner journey and see what you can bring to the table that is interesting and valuable enough for others to pay for.

This is the principle of personal branding - positioning yourself as the go-to-person when it comes to your area of expertise so your audience wants to engage with you and will reach out rather than you having to chase them.

In order to get to this stage however, you need to put the hard yards in and figure out who you really are (your skills, values, passions, and personality), who you can benefit/add value to (your target market or audience), and how you set yourself apart from the rest who offer exactly the same skill sets. expertise and experience than you (your unique niche - through your story).

A brand is a promise; a promise to deliver a certain value. So if you want to build a successful brand, you need to be

CONSISTENT - CLEAR - CONFIDENT

in everything you do - from your hand shake to your online engagement.

To get you started, here are the blocks you need to consider when build your brand:

✔️ NEEDS: Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs is a helpful tool that shows layers of needs from the most basic (physiological needs, such as food) all the way up to self-actualization — becoming everything that you are capable of becoming.

✔️ VALUES: These are core principles that give meaning to your life — a set of standards that determine your attitudes, choices, and actions.

✔️ INTERESTS/PASSIONS: What motivates you and determines how you want to spend your time?

✔️ MISSION: Explains what you are all about and what you want to do in life.

✔️ VISION: How will you achieve your mission?

✔️ STRENGTHS: What patterns of interest consistently produce a positive outcome in your life, no matter the environment or situation?

✔️ FREAK FACTOR: What's your quality that makes you different and unusual?

✔️ PERSONALITY ATTRIBUTES: How do you show up to others and how would they describe you?

✔️ EDUCATION & WORK EXPERIENCE: fact based, can't be argued (gives you also credibility)

✔️ 360º FEEDBACK: get feedback from your peers - this is one of the most appreciated exercise in my workshops

✔️ GOALS: What you want to achieve? Visualise it to make it more real!

✔️ TARGET MARKETING POSITIONING STATEMENT: How do you communicate clearly your value to the ones who matter so they know exactly what they get with you?
